Yuri Kokov appointed department head for resisting extremism

Moscow/Agency Caucasus – Russia’s President Dmitri Medvedev has appointed Lt. Gen. Yuri Kokov of Kabarda-Balkar origin as head of the Interior Ministry department for resisting extremism.

Col. Sergey Basak was appointed as chief inspector, and Col. Oleg Zimin head of the ministry department for the security of individuals qualifying for state protection, the Kremlin press service said.
