State terrorism continues to hit Untsukul

Makhachkala/Agency Caucasus – The residents of Untsukul, Dagestan, are suffering from terrorization by security forces for months.

The security forces started to pressure the residents into obeying the rules when Gazimagomed Magomedov, who was a member of the parliament from the village of Gimri, was killed on December 15, 2007.

Since then, daily curfews have remained in force, some residents said, and members of the security forces have raided houses for several times. Besides, the residents were still not allowed to go to their gardens and/or fields at times, some residents said. It was only through permission granted by the security forces beforehand that the residents could exit or enter the local area, they said.

For these reasons, the Gimri residents will demonstrate their reaction soon.

Some members of the security forces had arbitrarily shot animals to dead and set the woods to fire, said the residents of Balahani village. Also, the security forces have carried out periodical raids on houses to search them without an official license to do so, said Rasul Yakubov, the local administrator here.

Anybody here who does not have their ID cards with them are kept under police arrest until they get their ID cards. Since April, almost everyday has become a day of more practice in getting used to explosions.

The rebels who take order from Rasul Magomedov fought the day before with the security forces around the village.

The villagers have repeatedly said that neither Magomedov nor his supporters were hosted in the village of Balahani.

The federal government issued a warrant to arrest Magomedov and his supporters. KU/ÖZ/FT
