Tbilisi – Georgia flew into a rage after Russia announced Thursday that it would no longer comply with the embargo imposed on Abkhazia in 1996 by the the Commonwealth of Independent States, CIS.
The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested against the decision as follows: "This [decision] is a very dangerous provocation because it encourages separatism and deepen the tension in the conflict zone. The Russian administration ignores the sovereignty as well as territorial integrity of Georgia."
"Russia no longer feels the need to comply with the 1996 CIS decision to impose embargo [on Abkhazia]," The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday in its written statement. (Agency Caucasus)
