Ingushes honor poet Kuliyev

Magas/Agency Caucasus – Kaysin Kuliyev, poet, is recently receiving honorary acknowledgment even from the ethnic groups outside Balkaria, where he was born, as an intellectual who went through periods of time at war and in exile in North Caucasus.

The Ingush President Murat Zyazikov decided to name a street in the capital city Magas after Kuliyev to honor his name on the 90th anniversary of his birthday. His name will appear on the street just across the one that was named after Nikita Kurshchev, a Soviet leader who allowed in 1943-1944 groups of people to return from exile in Central Asia and Siberia to Balkaria, Karachai, and Ingushetia.

Zyazikov further said that Kuliyev left behind the set of teachings that taught them how to be patriotic. Kuliyev’s exposure to hardships both at war and in exile did not stop him from writing as someone from his people for his people. Each group of people in Caucasus, especially those in Balkaria, Ingushetia, , Kabardino and Karachai, tend to regard him as someone from themselves.

Zyazikov also officially agreed to honor Kaysin Kuliyev with the highest award of Ingushetia. Kabardino-Balkaria has also devoted the year 2007 to various celebrations of his 90th anniversary of birthday.
