Nazran – President Murat Zyazikov of Ingushetia annulled the government.
The annulment was rather surprising and came amid the upward spiral of violence between the resisters and the security forces in addition to raids, illegal detentions and abductions by the federal forces.
Zyazikov declined to give a reason for his annulment of the government. He simply stressed the need for more economic and social reforms. A few days ago, the Ingushes tried to hold a public congress and called upon Russian President Vladimir Putin to intervene and to help to improve the situation worsened under the leadership of Zyazikov. However, Zyazikov is known to have had a close friendship with Putin while they were both KGB agents. (Agency Caucasus)
