Slovenians meet Caucasian officials

Caharkala/Vladikavkaz – Andrei Benedeychich, the Ambassador to Moscow from Slovenia, the country that has currently been presiding over the whole of the European Union, or EU, took a group of officials first to Chechnya and then to North Caucasus.


The Slovenians, among whom were the ambassador’s councillor Zlatkov Adpeshich, the Secretaries Tyasha Perchan and Greg Paynkihar, the Military Attaché Col. Tomislav Drolts, first met on Tuesday with Ramzan Kadyrov, the puppet president of . Members of the youth organizations, human rights officials and members of the board of aldermen had a chance to have talks with the Slovenians while they were in .

The Slovenians were guided in Caharkala through a high school, a mosque, the Pobeda Street which is still under construction, and a monument to the victims of political oppression.

Benedeychich empathised with the officials of the Chechen administration when he said that he could understand how difficult it can be for a country like Chechnya to recover from the wreckage of the war, because his country, Slovenia, went through a similar experience not so long ago.

The Slovenians continued with their trip to North Caucasus on Wednesday. After their talks with the officials of the Republic, they made a short visit to the Club of Child Tolerance, set up by the United Nations Children’s Fund, or UNICEF.
