Nalchik to host women chess players from around the world

Nalchik/Agency Caucasus – The Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria will host the most advanced female players of chess from around the world.

Preparations are under way to make the capital city of Nalchik available for hosting for the first time a worldwide chess competition for women.

Madina Dishekova, Deputy Prime Minister, agreed with Kirsan Ilumjinov, President of the World Chess Federation, or FIDE, to have the first series of games played between August 28 and September 18, according to a statement released from the press office of the president of Kabardino-Balkaria. Ilumjinov made a local visit to parts of Nalchik where the games would be played. Among those parts are the Green Theater House, the Palace of Trade Unions, the State Hall of Concert and the Hotel of Sindika.  

Arsen Kanokov, President of Kabardino-Balkaria, had signed an agreement in principle with Ilumjinov to choose Nalchik as the city to host chess games. KU/ÖZ/FT
