Kadyrov removes one chamber of his Parliament

Caharkala/Agency Caucasus – Ramzan Kadyrov, the puppet President of Chechnya, has made his Chechen parliament consist of one chamber only.

The Chechen parliament will have only one chamber as of the next time the parliamntary elections are held, according to the law adopted both by members of the lower chamber of Parliament and members of the council.

The number of deputies will decrease to 41 from 61.

In addition, only those candidates will be able to be elected whose names appear on the lists of political parties. Formerly, candidates could run in the elections either if their names appeared on the lists or if they stood in the elections for a particular region.

The High Electoral Council officials say that the puppet administration of Chechnya plans to hold the next elections in October 2009. KU/ÖZ/FT
