Fire breaks out in Ingush refugee camp

Nazran/Agency Caucasus – A fire broke out in one of the officially unrecognized refugee camps in Ingushetia.

Five wooden shelters were damaged in a fire that broke out in the Crystal refugee camp of Nazran that hosts both North Ossetian and Chechen refugees. Although the entire furniture was damaged, no one was reported injured.

Aslanbek Apayev, Chair of the Refugees Committee, said that the cause of the fire was not known immediately.

The Federal government and especially Russia’s puppet government of Chechen either forcibly closed down the camps or discontinued official service to the refugee camps only to be able to claim that the question of refugees no longer existed. Hence, the government does not recognize refugee camps. RE/ÖZ/FT
