Assad visits Adygeans

Damascus/Agency Caucasus – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife, Asma al-Assad, visited together a group of Circassians in Damascus, capital of Syria.

The Central Adygean Khase, an Adygean non-governmental organization, hosted the al-Assad couple.

The Central Adygean Khase organized some cultural programmes during the Ramadan at the For-Sizner Hotel of Damascus. The organization of such programmes was financially assisted by the Syrian Ministry of Working and Social Policy and aimed at introducing the Adygean history, culture as well as tradition. Syrian Minister Hadji Arif Dela of the Working and Social Policy department, along with other bureaucrats and foreign representatives, attended those programmes.
There are more than 100,000 Adygeans living in and around Damascus , according to unofficial statistics.  KU/ÖZ/FT
