Moscow – Abkhazia could be included in preparations for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, said Dmitri Kozak, the Russian Minister of Regional Development.
Kozak said that some materials and man force might be obtained from Abkhazia for using in works of construction and infrastructure ahead of the 2014 Olympics.
Tbilisi called on to lift its sanctions
Vyacheslav Kovalenko, the Russian ambassador to Tbilisi, called upon the Georgian administration to lift its embargo on Abkhazia while he responded to his subjection on Thursday to words of protest by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the Russian administration made a decision to lift its embargo of over 10 years on Abkhazia. "We have to find a way to break the deadlock. I think that it will be very nice if Georgia lifts its sanctions on Abkhazia. If Georgia does the same thing as Russia, it will have a strong and positive effect on the dialogue between Georgia and Abkhazia," said Kovalenko.
The Tbilisi administration harshly reacted to the lifting of the embargo because it said that it would provoke separatism.
Before the 2 December 2007 Duma elections, Kozak was a special representative of the Kremlin in North Caucasus. (Agency Caucasus)
