Support declaration for ‘Olympic Genocide’

Nalchik/Agency Caucasus – Representatives of some Circassian NGOs expressed their support for 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Head of Kabardino-Balkarian Coordinating Council Adygskih public organizations Zhilyabi Kalmukov, leader of Kabardino-Balkarian Adige Khase Muhamed Hafitse and head of Union of the Abkhazian volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Yahogoyev signed a declaration supporting the Olympic Games which are planned to be held in Sochi.

It is stated in the declaration that the Olympics should be used as a mean for recreating peace, tolerance and good relations between Caucasian folks and for strengthening Russian Federation. Signers of the declaration claim that ‘Olympics will serve Russia’s people and Circassian folk’s (which is an inseparable part of it) interests’.

However, a lot of NGOs in Caucasia and Diaspora oppose 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Lately during the protests, especially the ones that were organized in Diaspora, it is stated that Olympics should not be held in Sochi where Circassian genocide took place.
