Shamba aims for European democracy

Sokhumi/Agency Caucasus – During the meeting with voters in Tkuarchalke on 2 August candidate for the Presidency of Abkhazia Sergey Shamba said that they aim to make Abkhazia a young and developed European country.

Stating that they prepared socio-economic development plan for ten years along with agricultural and health development plans with experts from Israel and Italy, Shamba underlined that they can realize these projects only if they will be chosen by public.

“We believe in the rule of law and democracy. Hearing that people talking about ‘maintaining’ order in Abkhazia annoys me. There are some old words in the history. The word ‘order’ in European mind reminds German fascism and Soviet Stalinism” said Shamba.

“According to some people, we do not need European democracy, we have our own democracy. But that’s not it. We have to revive our traditional Apsuwa culture but we should not ignore modern processes.”

Candidate for presidency Sergey Shamba and candidate for vice presidency Shamil Adzinba met with voters in the village of Pakuash of Achamchira region on the same day.
