Tskhinval left waterless

Tskhinval/Agency Caucasus – The whole of Tskhinval, capital of South Ossetia, was left waterless in the middle of summer.

Georgia’s constant acts of sabotage have cut off the supply of water to Tskhinval, said Robert Guliyev, Mayor of the city.

Until recently only 25 percent of the whole amount of water could be supplied to the capital city of South Ossetia, said Guliyev, and added that there was not even one drop of water left in water pipes. Guliyev held Georgia responsible for this.

The administration of South Ossetia warned on July 31 Georgia to end its illegal cuts of water supply on the water carriages between Yedis-Tskhinval, said the mayor. "There was irregular supply of water to Tskhinval in the whole of July. On July 26, a group of military monitors and experts detected illegal cuts of water supply on pipes in Georgian villages, along where a long line of water stretches from Yedis to Tskhinval."

Municipal workers will be employed to meet the supply of water in tanks, said Guliyev. He warned the local people not to be alone when they went out to sources of water around the regions because they might run the risk of being shot at by Georgian snipers otherwise.

There are several other times when Tbilisi left Tskhinval waterless in previous years.
