Shamba calls for recognition while he is in Ankara

Ankara – Ankara hosted on Thursday night Sergei Shamba, Foreign Minister of Abkhazia as the guest of the Committee of Solidarity between

Caucasus and Abkhazia. 

Shamba made it clear that his country has continued to make headway as an independent country.  

Apart from Shamba, Abdullatif Sener, former Deputy Prime Minister, Dogan Gunes, retired Chief of Staff, Nevzat Pakdil, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Agah Oktay Guner, former Minister of Culture and Turan Comez, deputy from the city of Balikesir were among the guests.

Shamba was particularly careful to ask both and to recognize his country as an independent republic before he said that Abkhazia has been independent and will remain so.

Shamba praised the Caucasian Diaspora in for their efforts to live together in peace and he then thanked the representatives of the Caucasian Diaspora for their support that they provided while Abkhazia sought independence.
Irfan Argun, Chairman of the Committee of Solidarity between Caucasus and Abkhazia, said that his friends worked hard in cooperation with the government to help the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia to get resolved peacefully. He, however, criticized the Turkish government for its support for . tended to ignore the interests of both its own citizens and the Caucasian Diaspora, said Argun, and he expressed contempt for indifference that showed towards Abkhazia. “I am strongly opposed to the kind of attitude taken by towards Abkhazia over the past 15 years,” said Argun when he concluded his speech.
