Saakashvili says Chechen troops were in Abkhazia

Tbilisi/Agency Caucasus – Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said that a group of Chechen troops under the command of Ramzan Kadyrov, who is the Prime Minister of the pro-Russian government of Chechnya, were located in Abkhazia.

Kaydrov’s soldiers were among the Russian soldiers of peace force on the day of October 30 when three Georgian police officers were first arrested and then disarmed in the village of Ganmuhri, where the Georgian youth camp was established, according to Saakashvili.

Saakahsvili spoke at an international conference in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, while he said that the Chechen participation in incidents in the zone of conflict was provoking and suspicious in itself. He also said that the Abkhazian region of Gal and the Georgian region of Zugdidi now became a place for murders and kidnapping—which need have been dealt with the soldiers of Russian peace force.

The United Nations wants Georgia to close down its youth camp that it set up in Ganmuhri. Saakashvili was forceful in his response to this demand from the United Nations when he said that Ganmuhri had already become a perfect place for the flourishing of terrorism by the time Georgia established its youth camp. “Georgia cannot tolerate the demand of the United Nations. The situation in Ganmuhri actually shows the failure on the part of the United Nations in really dealing with the events in Ganmuhri.”
