President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia has officially started on Friday the Georgian occupation of Tskhinval, capital of South Ossetia.
Saakashvili announced that he ordered the entire armed forces of Georgia to mobilize and take the control of South Ossetia. As Saakashvili said that he would not give up, Russia has taken action, too. Russia would not remain indifferent towards the situation in South Ossetia, where even Russian peace-keeping forces came under Georgian attacks, said Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Russia, and vowed to respond accordingly.
One Russian warplane was reported to strike a Georgian police patrol. FT
