Kanokov: More investments will be made in construction field

Nalchik/Agency Caucasus—Arsen Kanokov, President of Kabardino-Balkaria, said during a meeting on November 10 about the first nine month’s time of investments in the country that more investments would be made in the field of construction.

The meeting was started with a presentation by Mikhail Afashagov, the Minister of Development. His presentation was followed by Kanokov’s words of promise to do the necessary thing to carry on with the investments.

“The Ministry of Development has a lot of things to do, such as creating a stronger team of technicians, improving the industry of construction, and reaching higher levels of quality with lower levels of expense in the field of construction. The people of this country have the right to ask the Ministry of Development for much more than what is currently available to them.”

Afashagov revealed the following information about the levels of investment both in 2007 and 2008:

A $3.8bn worth of investment went to works of construction in Kabardino-Balkaria in the first nine months of 2008, whereas it was $5.8bn in 2007. An area of 162 000 square meters was designated for residential reasons, while another area of 10 000 square meters as the workplace.

In 2007, money from the capital budget of Kabardino-Balkaria was spent on construction across an area of 235 000 square meters; private capital was spent on construction across an area of 204 000 square meters.
