Kadyrov seeks enlarged web of ties outside of Chechnya

Dzokhar-Khala/Agency Caucasus – Ramzan Kadyrov, whose presidential service for Chechnya is often overshadowed by his approval of Russia’s policies on his country, seeks to enlarge his web of ties abroad.

A statement released from Kadyrov’s press secretary announced that the Chechen administration would soon have its first representative body of officials settled in Minsk, capital of Belarus.

Not so long ago, the two administrations had reached an agreement to let automotive products be brought directly to Chechnya from Minsk and sold there.

In 2002, Chechnya agreed with the administration of Belarus to cooperate in the fields of finance, science, technology and culture.

In the near future, Belorussian companies will be officially eligible to take part in the reconstruction work in Chechnya.

Kadyrov thinks of having further representative bodies of officials in Almaty, Baku and Tashkent as well, according to the statement.

As part of his political stratagem to improve his country’s relations with the Commonwealth of Independent States, Kadyrov had meetings in 2007 with Kazakh businessmen as well as with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan.
