Ingushes leave their country, too

Magas/Agency Caucasus – Increased operations by Russia’s federal forces against Ingushetia swells the ranks of those fleeing the country.

Data from the web site www.ingushetia.ru indicated a significant increase in the number of recent population movement away from Ingushetia over the last five years. A group of 3555 Ingushes as well as Chechens applied, though not officially confirmed yet,  for asylum in Poland alone from July to November. 

The web site reports the reason why Ingushes tend to leave their country as being their search for a better life. Ruslan Kutayev, President of the International Committee on Problems in North Caucasus, said in a statement that 15,000 Chechens left Chechnya over the past six months. ÖZ/FT
