Tbilisi/Agency Caucasus – After Abkhazian officials started a television channel in the language of Megrel for the Georgians in the province of Gal; Georgia responded with a similar move when it launched a new radio station.
‘Open Abkhazia,’ a news media centre, started radio broadcasting after it launched the “Voice of Abkhazia” as a new radio station. According to Newsgeorgia, the new radio station will broadcast from the Georgian city of Zugdidi. The radio officials said they aim to address the Abkhazian people through their 24-hour broadcasting, even though the broadcasting is to be done mainly in Russian. ÖZ/FT
