Strasbourg/Agency Caucasus – European Court of Human Rights held Russian Federation responsible for the killings of Chechen Movsar and Movladi Nasuhanov and disappearance of Magomed Dudarov and fined RF to the sum of 60 thousands euro.
According to the court’s notification, Nasuhov brothers were detained in the village of Stariye Atagi in February 2002. When they were detained, their little brother was also with them but later he was released. According to the little brother’s testimony, Movsar and Movladi were taken to the command headquarters of Russian brigade. A week later family found their son’s burnt bodies in a neighboring village. An investigation initiated but could not get any results.
Magomed Dudarov disappeared after his home in Ken-Yurt village was raided by armed and masked men in camouflage in November 2002. In December an investigation initiated but could not get any results. It’s still unknown, what happened to Dudarov.
According to the ECHR’s decision, RF was fined to the sum of 160 thousands euro to pay as compensation to the Nasuhov and Dudarov families in these two cases. In addition to that, 8 thousands euro will be paid for court’s expenses. Decision will come into effect in three months, unless sides make objection to it.KU/OZ/YA
