Bilkent University to host Caucasian Lectures this year

Istanbul – Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, will host a series of lectures on Caucasia in general, which were first delivered at the Istanbul-based private University of Bilgi in 2005.

The lectures will be given at the Ankara-based private University of Bilkent between April 13 and May 31. They will largely be about the Circassian identity, how the Circassian nationhood as well as statehood emerged, theories of diaspora, nationalism and policies of energy. The Caucasian lectures came about as a project by the Caucasian Forum. These lectures are intended to put under discussion such concepts as ethnicity, nationalism, identity and nation-state, to benefit from such academic disciplines as political science, psychology, sociology and history in analyzing their implications, and to give from the perspectives of history, sociology and literature an objective account of how the Circassian identity emerged.

It costs one person 50 YTL to join the Caucasian Lectures (Agency Caucasus)
