Caucasus – As many as 85,000 Ingush people have so far joined a petition for the re-appointment of former President Ruslan Aushev as new President of Ingushetiya, a republic with a population of over 450,000.
Magomed Hazbiyev is the head man of a committee that has initiated and now maintains the petition. He said that as many as 85,000 people have put their signatures on the petition calling for the Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to replace Murat Zyazikov with Ruslan Aushev.
The number of petitioners is as high as half of the entire population eligible for voting. Mehk-Kel, a civil council of consultation of the Ingush society, will have a meeting with the committee of Hazbiyev before the petition is finalized and sent to the Russian president. ÖZ/FT
