Istanbul/Agency Caucasus – Office of Mufti in the city of Giresun in Turkey took action to build a mosque in Sukhum. During Friday prayer in 1144 mosques in villages, towns and city center of Giresun, office of Mufti collected money.
Office of Mufti in Giresun will continue to gather aid with seminars, meetings and sermons by informing people about Abkhazia and Sukhum. Employees of the office of mufti call people to help construction of a mosque, emphasizing that in Abkhazia, where a lot of Muslim live, there is no mosque.
As part of a project that came to effect with a decision made by Department of Religious Affairs on 21/02/2007 Giresun and the capital of Abkhazia – Sukhum were announced as ‘sister Cities’. At the moment in the cities of Sukhum, Gagra and Gudauta in Abkhazia there are 3 masjids for prayers.
