Adygean Communists have a new leader

Maykop/Agency Caucasus – Adygean deputy Valeri Sorokolet was elected Secretary-General of the Adygean Republic of the Communist Party in the Russian Federation.

Former Secretary-General Grigori Senin assumed responsibility as Group Leader of the Communist Party in Adyean Parliament. Zaurbek Shu, a deputy, said that it was not unexpected, because Senin was willing to quit as Secretary-General for domestic reasons.

A congress in the Adygean branch of the party was held to make future plans after reports of activities that cover the period of time from June 2006 to September 2008 were evaluated.

Only two Adygean parties could surpass the treshhold in last year’s elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The United Russian Party won 74.49 percent of the votes, while the Communist Party won only 12.28 percent.
