Istanbul – A group of Abkhazian officials have come to Turkey on Friday in the wake of their trip to Syria to meet with the Turkish people of Abkhazian origin.
The group consists of Sokrat Cincolia, former Speaker of the Abkhazian Parliament, currently Head of the Abkhazian Office of the Caucasian Institute of Democracy; Assoc. Prof. Guram Gumba, Head of the Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Affairs; Talih Ozcan, Deputy Head of the Abkhazian Commission on Economic Affairs.
The Abkhazian group has it as its aim to increase the sensitivity towards efforts to get Abkhazia recognized internationally. For that reason, the Abkhazian officials will meet with representatives of the Abkhazian Diaspora, with representatives of non-governmental organizations, with opinion leaders and with journalists.
On April 12, Saturday, the group will have its first meeting from 7 p.m to 11 p.m. at the Municipal Building in Hendek, a district of Sakarya, a north-eastern Anatolian city. The next meeting will be held on April 13, Sunday, in Duzce, a neighboring city. On April 14 and 15, the Abkhazian officials will meet with some officials of the Turkish administration. The next two days, April 16 and 17, the group will have its meetings first in Eskisehir and then in Istanbul. On April 18, they will leave the country. (Agency Caucasus)
