Ossetia’s tragedy to be adapted for screen

Vladikavkaz/Agency Caucasus – Akim Salbiyev, a national actor and producer in South Ossetia, has set out to adapt for screen the tragedies of the recent war between Georgia and Ossetia.

Salbiyev will soon start shooting his new movie “The Last Eye Witnesses.”

Salbiyev had planned to start shooting his movie in South Ossetia before the recent war broke out.

Salbiyev’s initial aim was to make a movie about the struggle of Ossetia for independence that began after they were exposed to genocidal policies through the 1920s and the 1990s.

The latest events would add a new dimension to his movie, said Salbiyev.

Salbiyev also expressed surprise at the attitude of Georgian intellectuals towards the war that Georgia started when he asked such Georgian intellectuals as Robert Sturua, Timur Cheidze, Valeri Miladze, Vahtang Kikabidze, Nani Brigvadze and Irakli Kvirikadze the following question: “Why do you remain silent?”
