Chechen Resistance suffers loss

Caharkala/Agency Caucasus – Abu Isuphaciyev, leader of the Chechen resisters in Pervomaysky province, killed himself to avoid being caught while he was involved in a fighting, said Ruslan Abkhanov, Interior Minister of the puppet Chechen administration.

The Chechen police carried out an organization after they heard that Isuphaciyev was hiding in a house in Valerik, according to Alkhanov’s statement released on May 24. The police circled the house and ordered him to surrender. However, Isuphaciyev refused to surrender. When he realized that he could not escape, he exploded himself by a bomb.

The Chechen Police held Isuphaciyev responsible for an attack launched in early May on a check point in the Staropromislov district of Caharkala, capital of Chechnya.

Isuphaciyev was a member of the Resistance movement led by Rustam Basayev, killed in August 2007, according to Alkhanov. KU/ÖZ/FT
