Sochi/Agency Caucasus – Head of Adygea Khase of Krasnodar Krai Asker Soht commented about the declaration which supports Sochi Olympics and signed by 3 Kabardino-Balkarian NGOs.
Last week a declaration signed by Head of Kabardino-Balkarian Coordinating Council Adygskih public organizations Zhilyabi Kalmukov, leader of Kabardino-Balkarian Adige Khase Muhamed Hafitse and head of Union of the Abkhazian volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Yahogoyev was published.
Answering the question about what does he thinks about the declaration, “On May 16th during the meeting with Circassian NGO leaders at the Parliamentary of Duma, representative of Circassian Association of California Çiçek Şık voiced a viewpoint about Sochi Winter Olympics and this was totally opposite to the approach of Union of World’s Circassians. But member NGOs of Union of World’s Circassians did not made any explanation about changes in their approach”said Asker Soht.
During the meeting on May 16th Çiçek Şık prevented Sochi Olympics to be brought to the agenda, submitted a proposal named “Program for Rehabilitation and Preservation of Circassian Nation and Culture” in which it is indicated that Russia should recognize Circassian genocide, and made a speech reminding responsibilities of Russian Federation against Circassian Nation. At the same meeting Samir Karden, one of the representatives of Circassian Diaspora in Jordan, said that the young Circassians in Jordan are definitely against the Olympics to be held in Sochi and delivered young Circassians’ demand of holding the Olympics in another place to the officials of Duma.
Claiming that supporting Olympics means bringing Adygeas in the region and Russian Federation face to face, Asker Soht said: “Really, lately, some people are trying to create ‘anti-Olympics front’ through social networks, they want to bring Adygeas of Sochi and Krasnodar Krai and RF face to face. These ‘extremist’ actions arise from Organization Committee’s irresponsible and insufficient attitude which shows that during the preparations for Olympics Circassian folk’s history and culture are definitely ignored. We, on our own behalf, are trying to corporate with all levels of administration for a solution. For us, the Union of World’s Circassians is an organization which unites Circassian organizations in RF and Diaspora and that is our main attitude. We are not corporating with organizations which do not share same goal and principles with Union of World’s Circassians.”
In Caucasia and Diaspora There are a lot of Circassian NGOs and initiatives which have no connection with Union of World’s Circassians and which are against holding Olympic Games in Sochi, symbol city of Circassian Genocide. Comments on social networks on the web show that most of the Circassians are against 2014 Sochi Olympics.
