Protest against abductions and extrajudicial killings in Dagestan

Mahachkala/Agency Caucasus – A group of protesters, numbered around 150, in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt region protested security forces for abducting, torturing and killing people.


Human rights defender Rasul Ismailov, one of the organizers of the protest, that took place near the village of Toturbiykala, stated that “irresponsibility and corruption of the administration” direct people to protests. 

 

According to the reports, police forces monitored the protest with a lot of armed vehicles but did not interfere. Protesters said that security forces suggested them “to hold the protest in Mahachkala”. At the end of the protest participants stated that they will continue protest actions and dispersed. KU/YA/CY
