Ingush anger at FSB and federal forces

Nazran – A large group of people of Ingushetia demonstrated anger at the fighting on the part of both the Russian secret service of intelligence and the federal forces against resisters.

Many people were injured in a skirmish that occurred between the demonstrators and the army soldiers when the soldiers fired their guns into the air in an attempt to stop the demonstration in the Ingush city of Nazran . Prevented from staging a demonstration outside the government building, the group gathered in a square near the main bus station in central Nazran.

The demonstrators were critical of months of operations by the federal forces when they shouted for justice and protection against murder as well as kidnapping. A call came up from the crowd for the resignation of Ingushetia’s President Murat Zyazikov, a former FSB agent, because he is choosing to remain silent. The soldiers met with fierce resistance from the demonstrators when they were forced to disperse while shouting anti-Zyazikov and anti-Russian slogans. Many demonstrators were injured in the skirmish. As many as 100 others were arrested.

The people of Ingushetia decided to have a general meeting after a six-year-old child was killed in a special operation in the Chemulga village of Sunjen district.
