Dagestan suffers another political murder

Makhachkala – A leading political figure from Dagestan was murdered just days after the killing of Ferid Babayev as someone from the opposition party who would have run for the December 2 Duma elections if he had not been murdered. 

Neriman Aliyev, 77, and her husband were killed. Aliyev was heading a commission on social policies as part of the Public Parliament, which is officially assigned to provide counseling for the government of Dagestan .

The dead bodies of both Aliyev and her husband were found in their house in the village of Mamedkala , said Magomed Suleymanov, Speaker of Dagestan’s Parliament. The Aliyevs were shot dead by someone whose identity remains unknown.

"Aliyev announced her candidacy for membership to Dagestan ‘s Public Parliament of South Federal Region. Appointments would be scheduled to take place in late November in Rostov . And Aliyev was one of the six candidates," said Alik Abdulgamidov, a member of the Public Parliament.

Aliyev’s daughter, Asiyat Aliyev, who is both an academician and manager of a wine company, is known as a heroic socialist worker. She is heading the social policies committee of Dagestan ‘s Parliament. (Agency Caucasus ).
