Cherkessk/Agency Caucasus – President Mustafa Batdiyev of Karachai-Cherkessia announced officially that Nov 24 would be celebrated as the Day of Reading from this year on.
President Batdiyev’s announcement was intended to have children and young people have more interest in books.
Elena Iysen, spokesperson for the president, said that Nov 24 would be celebrated annually with special activities to encourage the habit of reading. "Authors and poets will have the chance to meet with local people at libraries and schools. Young students will be given the opportunity to read stories. Adults will be able to attend lectures as well as seminars."
